OSU Graduation

This past weekend I went to see my step sister, Keli, graduate from OSU.  She graduated with a degree in Hotel & Restaurant management and already found a job at the Hyatt in Houston.  I really enjoyed seeing her and all my family, but that is not even the coolest part.  The guest speaker was GEORGE W. BUSH, live and in front of my eyes.

I have never seen a president in person, and may never get that chance again.  He gave a 25 min. speech that was really really good.  I know your thinking GWB can’t give a good speech, but it was really good.  He admitted that his critics often call him a “cowboy”, for what reason I don’t know, but he continued to say, “Well I don’t mind being a cowboy among a bunch of other cowboys”, and everyone screamed after that as you can imagine.

Aside from seeing the President, it was cool to see him arrive in a helicopter, and all the secret service people there in the crowd.  It was like something I had never seen before.  Men in dark suits walked around everywhere, staring into the crowd.  At one point I wanted to trip one of them just to see what would happen, not really.  There was one lady agent though that was Kristy's size, but looked like she could beat up some one like Jarrett, a difficult combination to say the least.  On top of the stadium, there were snipers on all corners looking through these massive binoculars scoping the stadium.  Never did they have there guns drawn, but after Bush spoke, all the Secret Service people left.  The snipers carried a gun away that was a tall as them.  It was cool.

The helicopter entrance was awesome.  Each helicopter flew over the stadium, where one circled the entire stadium before landing.  Those things are huge by the way.  Once they left they flew over again.  It reminded me of a lion circling its prey before devouring it.  I know it sounds corny, but it was that powerful.  Anyway, seeing the president was something I will never forget.

Cool Books!

I just got done reading two books for a History course, Dispatches by Michael Herr & Arc of Justcie by Kevin Boyle.  Dispactches is a book about the author's stay in Vietnam during the late 1960s.  Arc of Justice is about a man (Ossian Sweet) who challenged the color barrier in Detroit, 1925.  What I have grown to learn is that America has made some pretty dumb mistakes and I can't figure out why.

For instance, why was it such a big deal to have a black neighbor living within a white neighborhood.  Aparently, the earth would shatter into a billion peices if two races were thought of as equall.  So good thing those whites did everything they could to keep blacks out, they saved civilization from caving in.  In Ossian Sweet's case, nearly 500 people gathered outside his house, mobbing him and his family.  Think about it, could you imagine 500 people yealling and screaming for you to leave, wanting to kill you at any cost, and all for a stupid reason.  Children were also apart of the mob.  Talk about setting a good example.  Anyway, I just think racism is the most rediculous idea ever, and this book is a good example of why.

Is school almost over yet?

Ummm, that's about it.  Is school almost over yet?

First timer here

You guest it, your dream has finally come true.  The one and only Brian Harrod is now on Xanga.  I just do not know what happened?  I guess my sister said something about her xanga over Easter and I thought I sould check it out.  Well, as it turns out, you have to be a xanga member to to make a comment.  So here i am.

I guess xanga is quite the exclusive club if only members can talk to members.  Although, it can't be too exclusive, since Josh Wigdoll isn't a member.  He is too cool to be on xanga.  So in that case, I'm going to call Josh evil names just to spite him because he will never read this!

Well, that is about all one can handle for a first timer on xanga.  So until next time, good luck and good night!
